Have you Weighed your 2015 USGP Transportation and Parking Options?

In less than 10 days the 2015 United States Grand Prix will be upon us. Since November of 2012 parking entrepreneurs in the tiny town of Elroy Texas have capitalized on the influx of racing fans. All along FM 812 and Elroy road residents are converting front yards and driveways into low priced vehicle, RV parking and camping sites.

Circuit of the Americas is offering several transportation options to and from the event. Let's take a look at some the most popular offers.
  • Downtown Shuttle Service - This year COTA is offering a couple of shuttle services from the Austin Convention Center
    • Standard Service - This option is $10 per day and must be purchased in advance by 10/18. The drop off location will be the shuttle lot on McAngus road. Be prepared to walk for 15+ minutes. This can be a bit of hike for those with limited mobility or elderly. There are usually freelance pedal powered Rickshaws (for cash hire) and ADA assistance available.
    • Express Service - This option is $25 per day and can be purchased in advance or at the Convention Center each day of the event. This option will drop you off at the Grand Plaza entrance to COTA.
    • 3 Day Park and Ride - From a parking lot on FM 973 priced at $30 total for 3 days of parking.
  • Onsite Parking at COTA

The Standard Service Shuttle will drop off passengers in the McAngus Road shuttle lot. It's the grey square in the top left corner of this map. Be prepared to walk. Other transportation options from this lot to the COTA entrance may be available.

One of our favorite parking spots is located inside the L and M parking lots. It's a private property known as Haywood's Hill. This location is not only convenient to the turn 11 entrance but offers a spectacular view of a large portion of the racetrack.

Haywood's Hill offers car parking, viewing, tailgating, camping and RV parking. It's truly Elroy's best kept secret.
